Neurodiversity First Responder Training
Every organisation has first aiders and, increasingly, mental health first aiders. Now it’s time to ensure someone is equipped to respond when a neurodivergent colleague, student, or customer is in distress.
Our CPD-Certified Neurodiversity First Responder online training course provides participants with practical tools to recognise early signs of overwhelm, respond calmly and inclusively, and restore psychological safety. By the end of the day, delegates are ready to step into a designated “first responder” role, providing support with dignity when it’s needed most.
What’s covered:
Understanding the role and responsibilities of a Neurodiversity First Responder.
Spotting triggers and early warning signs of distress.
Safe, respectful communication strategies that protect autonomy.
Role play and feedback to practise real-time responses.
Strategies for restoring trust and dignity after a crisis.
This course is perfect for anyone in an organisation who may be the first point of contact when a colleague, student, or customer is in distress — from HR and line managers to teachers, front-of-house teams, and event staff. No prior knowledge is required; just a commitment to creating safer, more inclusive environments.
Format:
The online training is delivered as a full-day, CPD-certified interactive workshop. Participants learn core principles through short presentations, then work through case studies, small-group discussions, and structured role plays to cement their skills. Everyone who completes the day is certified by Welcome Brain as a Neurodiversity First Responder, giving them a recognised role within their organisation. The course is led by Dr. Claire Renfrew, a Chartered Psychologist and sector expert with extensive experience supporting neurodivergent individuals in professional environments.
